When Elected Washington State Insurance Commissioner John will, with his experience and insurance knowledge, work to:
- Evaluate the existing office by calling for a Performance Audit from a disinterested independent source. This has never been done and a current review is appropriate.
- Reduce the over-regulation that is stifling business and consumers at all levels of our society
- Provide leadership to help reform unfair underwriting practices
- Work with others on the big basket of problems that we call "Healthcare Reform":
Tort reform for medical providers
Claims Payment reform
Uniform pricing for Prescription Drugs - Group Purchasing
Market availability and enhancement of competition - restore choice
Require Contracts to be issued to enable consumers to better understand complex coverages
Increase funding to the State of Washington without raising taxes
Work closely with employers and labor to make insurance available in currently troubled areas.
